The North End 88138 Men's Three Layer Fleece Bonded Shell Technical Jacket is the most technically advanced soft shell in the North End lineup — an 11 oz./yd² three-layer bonded construction using 96/4 polyester/spandex bonded to 100% polyester fleece with an inner waterproof membrane. At 11 oz./yd², this is substantially heavier and more substantial than the 8 oz. 88099, delivering an 8,000 mm waterproof rating and 800 g breathability rating with the UTK 1 temperature range (42°F to 11°F / 6°C to -12°C) — the manufacturer's stated performance metrics.
The technical construction includes water-resistant zippers in the front pockets — a detail that adds weather protection at the pocket openings to prevent moisture entry. Laser-cut pocket trim with heat-set textured overlay creates a sophisticated, precisely engineered pocket detail not found on standard soft shells. Thermal retention shock-cord at the hem allows cinching for windproofing. Available S–5XL.
